"From their approach and reputation, we knew when selecting nFlow that our challenging requirements were not going to submerge the project."

Digital dictation developer nFlow has delivered what it believes is a unique, and probably the most intricate, Citrix based digital dictation solution to date. The system was installed for Scottish law firm Miller Hendry, which has 8 offices across the Tayside area of Scotland. With significant restrictions on the availability of bandwidth, 256k in some cases, and highly mobile fee earners, nFlow says its solution now delivers all the benefits of a global digital dictation system within a very distributed environment without any requirements to upgrade data connections. The result is a unique, robust and global digital dictation solution over Citrix.
Miller Hendry installed Citrix because of the need for a centrally administered desktop for all users, without large connections between offices. The nature of the legal work administered by the firm also meant that fee earners need to maintain a high degree of mobility. When the team at Miller Hendry came to look at digital dictation it was soon obvious that they would need a solution that would work well with Citrix over very limited bandwidth connections. The firm also needed to allow the efficient use of portable recording devices to give its users the level of mobility they require, as well as provide remote access for home users.
At first look Miller Hendry found that none of the available digital dictation solutions would provide exactly what was required. After discussions with nFlow however the two agreed to partner on a unique solution that nFlow now believes provides the best functionality over Citrix compared with any other digital dictation solution on the market.
With research suggesting that under normal conditions 80-95% of dictation is transcribed at the same location as dictated, nFlow ported its highly successful distributed audio data repository technology to its thin client solution and removed wasted data traffic between offices. This unique development came a long way to meet the objectives of the project; however additional development was required to redistribute various audio processing functions around multiple locations to efficiently support wired, as well as portable, recording devices. The installation was further complicated by a highly varied deployment of PCs and Wyse Winterms, which have limited computing power. For each type of platform the nFlow digital dictation solution has successfully delivered to office and home users rich, fully featured, wired and portable dictation, as well as transcription and workflow management functionality.
Miller Hendry is delighted with the solution as well as the level of service and client care they received, especially as dictation backlogs have been significantly reduced.
Mr Lee Butler, IT Manager at the Miller Hendry says,
“From their approach and reputation, we knew when selecting nFlow that our challenging requirements were not going to submerge the project. The team were untiring in their efforts to work with us to deliver a successful implementation to users. Most importantly the delivered solution meets all the objectives extremely well.”
nFlow adds that it believes this is yet more evidence of its customer focused strategy, differentiating itself in the digital dictation market by proactively partnering with customers to deliver innovative technology and successful solutions. As an alternative to delivering out of the box solutions, nFlow have the sole intent of ensuring digital dictation is easy to buy, no matter what the customer’s requirements.
