City law firm, Speechly Bircham, is set to deliver the nFlow digital dictation system to its remote users following successful testing of the software on the new Citrix Presentation Server 3.0 platform.
Speechly Bircham reports that the software performs well in the Citrix environment. The system, supplied by nFlow partner Tikit, has been running on PCs at the firm for over a year, with the IT team having recently completed a near transparent upgrade to the new version 4. The thin client implementation has added an exciting and useful extra dimension to the service the firm is able to offer to fee-earners and secretaries who work out of the office.
Speechly Bircham's IT Manager, Robert Cohen, commented: 'Using Citrix Presentation Server we are able to deliver digital dictation to remote users, along with all their other desktop applications, via our Citrix web portal. Installation is simply achieved by downloading and installing the dictation equipment hardware drivers and pluging in the hardware. It is as close to a thin client solution as can be achieved by a digital dictation supplier. We have tested this from home over a wireless link through a 512k broadband connection and it performs as well as in the office.'
Tikit's digital dictation Product Manager, Matt Breen added: 'Delivering nFlow over Citrix is a key requirement for firms that use both systems and is further evidence of the commitment to development by both nFlow and Tikit. The trial at Speechly Bircham is comprehensive proof that nFlow can be deployed in a Citrix environment. As a result we are now looking at projects where the nFlow digital dictation solution can be delivered to users on dumb terminals.'
