Reynolds Porter Chamberlain to roll out high resilience DictaFlow system

"The resilience of Dictaflow has lived up to our expectations... even during a complete power failure in Holborn (the first for 15 years) we found no dictations were lost."
18th September 2002

nFlow Software Ltd, specialists in digital dictation workflow software for the legal market, announced today that following a highly successful pilot, completed in June, they had received an order from Reynolds Porter Chamberlain (RPC) to roll out DictaFlow to all 352 users in the Holborn and City offices.

Highlights of the rollout include the first major installation of nFlow's high resilience distributed server infrastructure, which will see eight DictaFlow servers providing local dictation facilities at the department level. Enterprise working is facilitated by replication of data across servers. This high resilience, a primary requirement in RPC's market investigation, removes the single point of failure risk typical of other single server systems, helping to ensure as few workers as possible are affected by any possible network or server problems.

'Considering that digital dictation is fast becoming a critical business process we are very pleased that RPC are taking advantage of the distributed server model", says Jim Park, nFlow Software's Technical Manager, "the multi-server technology we built into the product at an early stage stems from our development teams experience of developing large scale enterprise wide workflow management systems. This is particularly pertinent to enterprise digital dictation when considering the high resilience requirements and the network traffic generated by moving soundfiles".

nFlow's distributed server model is specifically designed to allow a single enterprise to spread out server services across multiple locations to reduce the distance soundfiles travel and hence network or WAN bandwidth used. In addition whilst the system has proven to be very stable the risk of network downtime exists as it does in any organisation. The distributed server services mean that, unlike a single server system, only the users within the segment affected will be inconvenienced rather than the whole organisation.

Julie Berry, IT Director of RPC said "The resilience of Dictaflow has lived up to our expectations... even during a complete power failure in Holborn (the first for 15 years) we found no dictations were lost. DictaFlow has delivered everything we needed for a successful migration from analogue to digital dictation."

nFlow Software are delighted in how rapidly law firms are realising the benefits of their DictaFlow solution, with pilot to full rollout averaging less than six months.
